Many followers of Jesus struggle as they consider the command of our Lord in Matthew 28: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”(ESV)
Go where? Make disciples of whom? “…baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” How? And importantly, why? What is our motivation to do these seemingly impossible tasks? For Don and Kathy Rulison obedience to the great commission was an outflow of love for their Savior.

Whether during military service, spreading the gospel in China and Northern Thailand, or unexpectedly returning Stateside for health reasons, Don and Kathy found that God was more concerned with what he could do in them than what he could do through them. Despite their struggles, by the grace of God, they pressed on, preferring others to themselves, and even returning to Thailand in later years for fruitful service.

Their story is based on total surrender, a complete reliance on the sovereignty of a great God, joy unspeakable, and an acceptance that only Christ strengthens and equips us for “A Venture in Grace.”
